Brimstone is the old sulfur term(I was thinking phosphorus but that is incorrect). Both of them definetly have a unique and nasty smell. Interesting note I experienced last year in huge industrial manufacturing plant I was at. They installed a new liq sulfur tank and started filling it to discover a leak... uh oh- dribble was a messss.
